Cause For Celebration: Blake Haxton

As part of our Cause for Celebration series presented by PNC, we are highlighting the triumphs of athletes with disabilities who have reshaped sport through perseverance and determination. This week, we celebrate Blake Haxton.

As a high school senior, Blake contracted necrotizing fasciitis — a rare and life-threatening infection that led to the amputation of both of his legs. After a long recovery, he returned to sport through adaptive rowing and later paracanoe, redefining what was possible.

Blake went on to compete in multiple Paralympic Games, earning a silver medal in the VL2 200m canoe sprint at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, showcasing his strength across two water sports.

Today, we celebrate an athlete whose journey proves that resilience and reinvention can carry you farther than you ever imagined.
