Cause for Celebration: Cindy Castellano
As part of our Cause for Celebration series presented by PNC, we are highlighting the triumphs of athletes with disabilities who have reshaped sport through courage and historic achievement. This week, we celebrate Cindy Castellano.
At the 1980 Winter Paralympic Games in Geilo, Norway, Cindy made history as Team USA’s first female Paralympic Winter Games champion, overcoming the loss of her hand to compete in alpine skiing.
She captured two gold medals in slalom and giant slalom, helping establish the United States as a rising force in winter Paralympic sport and breaking barriers for women on the global stage.
Today, we celebrate a trailblazer whose legacy continues to inspire athletes everywhere to push beyond limits.
